@ottaross@mastodon.social yep, I'm no stranger to CRTs & HV (got a 40kV probe and I know how to use it... 1 handed!).
Just wondering if this is a "oh yeah, it's a capacitor" type problem or "it's an unobtanium IC" situation.

@forty2@oldbytes.space oh good! I always started TV work with a discharge via screwdriver under the anode cap, clip-corded to gnd. I'm guessing a capacitor in the HV too, but it looks like a new-enough model for it to be an IC prob too. Maybe you'll get lucky and find the big relief of a burn mark or popped cap. 😊
