Briefly in London (no, not that one) to visit my sister. I think I was here briefly in the '70s as a little kid, but can't remember much except that the grass was all dead and I'd never seen such a thing before.

As close as I've been to the US in a while. Sun setting over Port Huron this evening. Surprised to hear how many locals this close to the border casually mention how they don't go over the border anymore. Encouraging to see the steady backbone holding here where it's so tangible. #sunset

Expecting the movie ends with Peter Graves in a bar chatting up a young lady: "…anyhoo, long story short, that's how they came up with the grasshopper drink before you now. Drink up, baby." #monsterdon

This neighbourhood cat keeps hanging around outside our door, as caught on our doorbell cam. I'm hoping to surprise it some morning give it a good thorough skritch behind the ears.

The special #weather statement warning regarding possible heavy rains (100mm !) is still up, but the radar looks like the threat is somewhat diminished at this point. A big system - Boston, NYC, Washington are all getting more of this than we are, I suspect.

Awake since 4am (currently 4:40) hearing heavy rains & thunder. We're a little over sensitive to them lately around here due to flooding issues that hit several west end neighbourhoods. No issues so far but I see warnings of 50 - 100 mm possible from this system. Ugh. A little early for another 100yr storm just three weeks or so after the last one? #Ottawa

Oh man. My doctor. Had a scheduled appointment this morning, and as usual his standard approach is to terminate all interactions in less than 60seconds if at all possible. Plus he doesn't do in-person appointments at all anymore, so it's even easier to get rid of patients with a minimum zoom interaction. Such is the state of health care.

Migraine overnight and unsure of its attribution. I had stayed away from all my normal triggers all week. 🙁 That leaves two physically-hard concrete driveway repair-work sessions Sat & Sun, air quality issues, plus a weather change overnight. Something in there pushed me into the pit. First hint was late afternoon. Oh well - meds are usually on top of it quickly. Such is life. #migraine #migraineur
