Sigh. This is your regular reminder that ebooks may not be listed on Amazon and yet STILL EXIST.
Creative Commons-licensed ebooks, for example. Banned on Amazon, they nonetheless STILL EXIST.
You can buy them.
You can buy them in mobi format.
You can read them on your Kindle.
Amazon is not the boss of you!
Nor, to return to my original point, is it the sole arbiter of ebook existence.

@DMakarios@theres.life totally! I recently was recommending boox or kobo readers as they are not owned by bezos! Also the entire history of literature, out of copyright, is available for free on Gutenberg.

@DMakarios@theres.life @LJ@sunny.garden I'm not sure why people are still buying e-books on Amazon. I made that mistake too many times and have locked my purchases into their system. I know better now. The best option for purchasing e-books is to buy from the author or publisher in a DRM free format. Then load them into your reader of choice while keeping the original EPUB for PDF stored elsewhere in case your reader suddenly becomes inaccessible.
