"What do you think is probably the happiest moment in one's whole life? I think it's the moment when one is walking in one's garden, perhaps picking a few dead flowers, and then suddenly one thinks: My husband lives in that house - and he loves me." I recently learned that one can put moss in a blender with some yoghurt, paint the resulting gloop on to a surface, and - provided it stays damp - the moss will just get back to mossing like nothing happened. Even metal isn't as metal as that. #moss #mosstodon #MetalAs

Best garden folly idea ever: the triangular Thunder House of Munstead Wood was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens to give a good view of thunderstorms in the valley and hills surrounding the River Wey. #folly #thunderstorms #architecture

I always thought I wasn't the lace knitting type, but Old Shale ain't bad. Which is a good thing, as this baby blanket has a long way to go yet. #knitting #lace #OldShale

Ever find an old work of art that looks like you? This is La Petite Couturière (The Little Dressmaker) painted by Jules Breton in 1868. She has my taste in long full skirts and headwear, my overflowing mending basket, my hair, and most weirdly, my face (or at least, my face circa 2010). What she clearly doesn't have is my taste in colour. Yellow and orange? Great. Lavender, blue, and black together? Lovely (though admittedly not on me). All five at once? Yikes. #art #doppelganger

Today I deleted my Shop account. I didn't know I had a Shop account. I never signed up for a Shop account. I never set a password for a Shop account. I never read or agreed to the terms & conditions or privacy policy. According to the vendor, "it appears that you followed the correct steps to avoid opening a Shop Pay account." And yet... The link you want, by the way, is shop.app/delete-account #ecommerce #shopify #enshittification #consent

Sigh. This is your regular reminder that ebooks may not be listed on Amazon and yet STILL EXIST. Creative Commons-licensed ebooks, for example. Banned on Amazon, they nonetheless STILL EXIST. You can buy them. You can buy them in mobi format. You can read them on your Kindle. Amazon is not the boss of you! Nor, to return to my original point, is it the sole arbiter of ebook existence. #ebooks #books #Amazon #CreativeCommons
