Meanwhile I'm constantly updating (and checking out what's new) 3 GUI frontends for AI agents, 5 code editors with agent plugins, opened about 50 tabs + about 5 new every day (that I'm afraid to look at) with github repos and search results for skills, MCPs and advice threads (I know these will become obsolete in about 2 weeks or so). I also sent myself some 30 emails with articles that I won't read.

@xjki reviewing AI code is as exhausting as it is absolutely necessary. One reason it’s exhausting is that I can’t use any of the mental shortcuts I use when reviewing hand-written code. I can form a mental picture over time of the developer and what they’re thinking, their style, their strengths, what they misunderstand. I can focus on areas they are likely to have made mistakes, and skim the areas that are probably fine. But AI isn’t like that, and you have to be on guard at every turn.

@xjki I will be 51 this month and am in at similar place. I actually started to lose the train before LLMs. Just tired of relearning everything. Around SwiftUI I just slowed down dramatically. LLMs were surely the nail in the coffin. I dabbled with it to get code snippets or answers / directions but I reluct to use an IDE that controls everything through AI. I know I will lose control just as happened when I paid people to rewrite one my apps and now I am too lazy/tired to update / understand it. Somehow my apps from the 2010 era let me make a good living for many years. Mostly I believe through luck and some understanding about human instincts rather than good coding. So I had a good run. What I see for sure about this always more / always faster mindset is likely the end of my career and I have no idea where to go. Except just reduce costs of living and get out of this.

@xjki hire some people, man. You probably now need the same staff size to check your AI output that would have done it themselves in the same project time on their own, with less hassle and lower electric bills. Or just hustle yourself to death, I guess.
