@Nshrubs@mstdn.social @MatWright@mastodon.social Wow, I am actually very impressed with these protocols!!! In my kid's school, the nurse will NOT test for covid. They suggest you "consider" testing for covid yourself if covid is suspected (no tests provided, must buy your own) and kids and teachers are advised to go to school if "no fever and symptoms are improving", regardless of test results!! If they test positive, masking for 5 days is "strongly encouraged" but not mandatory and no one enforces it anyway. 😠

@ikuo1000@mas.to @Nshrubs@mstdn.social @MatWright@mastodon.social How can a school have such an insane policy toward a disease as deadly as COVID-19? Where is it?

@ikuo1000@mas.to @MatWright@mastodon.social Low-income school; we got a large donation of close-to-expiring rapid tests after some wealthy parents w/immune-suppressed kids did some advocacy work. They are available for pickup in the office, nurse is using them as well. We "ask" parents to keep kids home if they test positive, but reality is many don't. The only real rules that are actually enforced are they have to stay home until 24 hrs without a fever, or 12 hours for any vomiting or diarrhea. Both kids had fevers.
