  One thing my district did during our "remodel" was cut down all the trees right next to our buildings - for this very reason. We'd open up the windows, set up the exhaust fan out one window & the intake fan in another window across the house, & sleep in relative coolness (upper 70s). Close up in the morning, close all the curtains, & we'd manage the day decently with fans. House was cinderblock, well-insulated, had deep roof overhangs & porches & sunshade screens....

I stood up the School Board mtg, held up my Nokia candy bar phone & asked when they'd be supplying us with staff iPhones for this mandate because I couldn't afford one on my teacher salary & if it was necessary for my job, then they should supply it. Amazing how quickly that mandate disappeared!

  Any idea what type of service I'd call to trim some branches that are scraping the roof & wall of my condo? Landscaper? Arborist? Tree cutting company? I have a ladder & a big extension pruner, but I'm too short to get these even when I'm on the ladder & I'm not getting up on roofs anymore. HOA has done nothing, so I'm going to have to pay out of pocket. It's not a big job - probably 20 mins for someone who can get up on the roof.

  3rd grade is getting 2 new students tomorrow. One is coming from Texas, one from Idaho. Both are showing up right before testing starts. 🤬 This puts 2 3rd grade classes at 34, and 1 is still at 33 kids. Absolutely ridiculous class sizes for 3rd grade.
