@wdlindsy@toad.social I'm now on my fourth instance since November 2, 2022 I'm betting some #ImportantMastodonInfluencer complained to your instance's moderators and called in a few IOUs I've found #Mastodon #Moderation to be opaque, ill-defined, highly subjective, and utterly without any second-chance recourse To look at your instance, it's very small (201 monthly active users) and apparently entirely the property of one individual who I shall leave unnamed And see: "Thoughtful participation and discussion welcome." @wdlindsy@toad.social I've only had one post removed by mastodon.social, it was a sarcastic comment on a popular cyberscam and I'm guessing some bot thought I was promoting a real cyberscam. I appealed, but the appeal was rejected. Did the person reviewing the appeal also think I was a scammer? Who knows? I didn't get any feedback. Not a big deal, really, but I've been reluctant to post satire and sarcasm ever since!

@wdlindsy@toad.social I would add to all the great tips provided above, that in your case you could benefit from having a duplicate posting on a blog, which could be your own website, or hosted by a third party (wordpress, substack, others...). This would allow readers at any time to go back and find a great post you wrote in the past, like curating & linking to other people's writing. If you host your own, you will always have an uncensored mirror or archive of whatever you published on Mastodon.

@wdlindsy@toad.social I moved to toad.social from mastodon.social because I appreciated @davetroy@toad.social Dave Troy's research and writing. I left toad.social solely because I felt US instances might be subject to pressure and fuckery. FWIW.

@wdlindsy@toad.social Heva you asked the moderator/admin? I had some posts removed likewise (different server) which were reinstated when I asked why? It seems that some oenwas not keen on reposts of reported news about foreign influence on the UK government and one assumes made up a claim of anti-something in order to suppress them.

@wdlindsy@toad.social I'm a moderator on another instance, and I'd join others in suggesting you contact your own admin/moderator. They would know if there was a report that triggered the post removals and should be able to tell you more about what's going on. If you do decide you need to change instances, the guide already posted (written by @FediThing@social.chinwag.org) is really good; I used it years ago and my transfer went perfectly.
