Query for user experiences with software: is anyone familiar with the Kagi paid-subscription metasearch engine? I&#39;m so fed up with Google and even DuckDuckGo that I&#39;m seriously considering Kagi. I&#39;d also be interested in hearing about any experiences with Mojeek (one of the search engines Kagi draws on, and reputedly one of the few serious search engines to be completely independent of Google and Bing).

@dedicto@zeroes.ca Yes, I use @kagihq@mastodon.social for all devices and recommend it. You can turn off all the AI "features" except the quick answer button on the main answers page which is easy to ignore. But I wish there was a switch to turn this off too. Yes you have to pay for it but that is better imo than "free" as in forced sponsored links, ads and slop.

@dedicto@zeroes.ca absolutely love it. last subscription I would cancel. Going back to google or duckduckgo feels like a slap in the face.

@dedicto@zeroes.ca I’ve been using Kagi for about a year or so now. I use it in all my devices and it has been an excellent experience. I was skeptical about paying for search, but it didn’t take more than a couple weeks for me to decide I was never going back. As was said by others, I wish you could excise every last bit of AI from it; but what you can’t turn off is pretty easy to ignore.

@dedicto@zeroes.ca Not surprisingly, when I searched Mojeek, I was invited to 'add it' to Chrome, or find it on 'Google Play'. That would defeat the purpose of disengaging with Google, and Meta.🙄
