  my favourite kind of AI / anti-AI article: "AI is opaque and incomprehensible and unreliable" 2 paragraphs later, confidently asserting "AI is totally Y it has been trained on X" (with X not really being further specified anyway). come on... at least have some rigor.   NGL I'm really annoyed that we had a period of 3 years were people invested into better software engineering could have gained a headstart on using LLMs for programming/learning.   re software "laundering": I just call it “sampling” software now. I have a great collection of samples for many situations I built up crate digging, and now I can make tracks pretty quickly, layering on a little solo when I feel like it. Depending on the situation (say, who this software is for, how much I "transformed" the samples) it'll feel like something I just straight out borrowed, but it'll also feel like mine at some point.
