@argv_minus_one@mastodon.sdf.org Thankfully there are increasingly sophisticated ways to use FPGA solutions to at least accurately approximate the experience. But I agree... It's important we try to keep these going for as long as possible.

  • @richardtroupe@mastodon.ie Yeah, that's true. You can't replace one transistor, but you can program an FPGA to replace the whole chip. I vaguely recall there being a project to rebuild a Commodore 64 from modern parts, with FPGAs serving in place of most of the original chips. Commander X16, I think it was called?
