It's going to be a sad day when the transistors in these old machines' chips start failing.
Replacing a capacitor is one thing. Replacing microscopic transistors is entirely another.
It is taking a weirdly long time for that to happen, but it's going to happen sooner or later…

@argv_minus_one@mastodon.sdf.org Thankfully there are increasingly sophisticated ways to use FPGA solutions to at least accurately approximate the experience. But I agree... It's important we try to keep these going for as long as possible.
