    @dieweltist@bunt.social yeah yeah, I'm sure that's exactly what people talk about. For all practical purposes using an LLM to "write code" is just renting a program. It's just SaaS.

    @dieweltist@bunt.social @hp@mastodon.tmm.cx locally hosted LLMs aren't empowerement though, the compute and power needs are enormous, and you'd need to already have some wealth to be able to get anything worth, especially for something that isn't just going to trash the codebase whenever the feature you ask be added isn't trivial that's not emancipation, that's gatekeeping for the rich, and i didn't even mention the fact it's corporate control as it is impossible to train a model with audited ressources, both legally and technically, unless you have even greater ressources
