i think it's interesting how french has an affirmative, "oui", for when you're agreeing with a statement, but also "si", for when you contradict it, but there is nothing such for negatives, only "non" for both, which can lead to misunderstandings (e.g. "i suppose you don't want X" with "non" as reply, which is ambiguous as it can either be an agreement or disagreement), which requires specifying afterwards which was meant to be clear,...
