Watching the latest California governor debate and I still don’t understand Becerra’s popularity. He’s against high speed rail. He’s against single payer healthcare. He’s against regulating the oil industry. He’s against abolishing ICE. Why are people rallying around this guy? Makes no sense

He also repeats the right wing talking point that homelessness is a mental health problem, not a cost of living crisis. Bro is a Republican straight up

@danirabbit@mastodon.online The media moguls like how friendly he is to their plans to further consolidate wealth and power. He's an "industry plant."

@danirabbit@mastodon.online I've just started looking into the candidates. I think a surprisingly large number of people think they're being smart by immediately rejecting any candidate with any appealing policy proposals as unelectable, and assume that they have to support the centrist from the start. The surprising thing is they jump on this before the formal party machinery really gets into operation.

@danirabbit@mastodon.online California was a swing state until the GOP went fully racist. He’s attractive to the people who voted for Arnie and Gray Davis. Fash-Lites
