@liw@toot.liw.fi It’s interesting: my first Debian install was in late 2004 (sarge, when sarge was still testing, because woody wouldn’t install on my hardware), and at the time the cliché was ‘debian releases when it’s ready’ and there was intentionally no estimate for when the next release would happen. But there’s now been a consistent release cadence for ⅔ of Debian’s existence.

@benjamineskola@hachyderm.io @liw@toot.liw.fi I think the big innovation was predictible freeze cycles, rather than a scheduled release date that many projects use... this still allows releasing when ready, while coordinating when to really focus on the release... I think this happened maybe 2009-ish?
