@craiggrannell@mastodon.social As time goes by, I’m utterly baffled that so many people still use Google as their default search engine, when there are various, better alternatives available. It’s just a matter of memorising a new URL. No, it’s even easier: just select a different search engine in your browser defaults.
The only thing I still use Google for — occasionally — is image search, as it can still return better results than DuckDuckGo or Bing.

@morrick@appdot.net @craiggrannell@mastodon.social Search engine usage is a very complex beast. Everyone has different needs. Yes, lots of people still use Google by default out of sheer laziness. But in my experience, especially for work, it is still impossible to do completely without it (and not just for images). I use DuckDuckGo by default, but frequently fall back on Google (with AI blocked) for work-related text searches (often site-specific), because I cannot take the risk not to check things with it.
