@GeofCox@climatejustice.social @eivind@fribygda.no to add to that, we’ve also seen social and fiscal policies head in two opposite directions. Social policies have been allowed to become more progressive while fiscal policies have slowly become more and more extremely regressive. So now things are boiling over and of course the social progress is a ripe scape goat, while the slow boil march of financialisation, deregulation and austerity which has been quietly rotting our foundations is easily shuffled under the Westminster carpet.

@FayeDrake@furry.engineer @eivind@fribygda.no Absolutely right - but I would add fiscal AND monetary policies. There is an entirely unhelpful nexus between 'centrist' governments and 'central' banks that escalates wealth upwards even when the intention (for example of the UK Labour Party) is the opposite - and also, incidentally, creates (out of nothing) the power of 'bond vigilantes'. The bond markets don't really have any power - they in fact need governments more than governments need them - but the fiscal and monetary rules have been rigged in their favour.

Here's your rainbow sticker, don't you feel better. Where the rubber meets the road, is the money. Electoral politics cannot be allowed to change financial policy. That's the "fundamental change" Biden promised to protect his sugar daddies from. The only way the sugar daddies can hang on to their ever-growing cancerous wealth, is with authoritarian force. Fascism is being pumped up, amplified and platformed by every trick they can think of. Astroturfing, algorithms, paid trolls, slop-- and cultivating the misery-to-anger pipeline. Trump was "elevated" to a "serious candidate" by a Pied Piper Strategy. In 2016 he got a billion dollars in free airtime, and for monsters there's no such thing as bad publicity. The backwards fringe religious right that was fading out got kicked up into new life. The same tactics are playing out all over the place. People are NOT this racist or cruel. We don't want this. The people in power are already showing us that their response to climate change, disease and other disasters is going to be MILITARY FORCE. Not aid, not relief, not prevention, not help. They're going to leave us twisting in the wind, and kick the shit out of those who complain.
