@digichelle@hachyderm.io I get that it's uncomfortable and the person might not want to answer or explain. Is this solely for the benefit of the flustered or those who may have difficulty refusing? If not, what's the harm in asking if you accept a “I don't want to explain, I just don't”?

@anselmschueler@ieji.de @digichelle@hachyderm.io because it’s none of your business. Why do you need to know the reason people don’t drink? So you can use that information against them later? Or do you just want to make them feel uncomfortable because they make different choices than you make? Or does it make you feel uncomfortable that you need to have alcohol in social situations? This is some audacity here. Why do you feel you have a right to the information? Have you considered that if they wanted you to know why they would elaborate?

@anselmschueler@ieji.de @digichelle@hachyderm.io Where do you draw the line? Can I ask you how often you bang your wife? And how you like to do it? And how long you last? Or is that a personal question that might make you uncomfortable at a party? No harm in asking though right?

@anselmschueler@ieji.de @digichelle@hachyderm.io Because everyone else asks & doesn't leave you alone about it & will continue pressuring you to have alcohol if your reason doesn't satisfy them. Asking details on certain decisions that only affect the person making the decision shouldn't be normal. You don't ask someone why they don't want soda or why they don't want chips. It's weird & only makes others uncomfortable.
