As an IT person, my answer would be, I *want* to help you (my coworker) with your problem. You are not offending or annoying me by calling me. You might inconvenience me, but it’s my job to be temporarily inconvenienced so your issue can be permanently fixed.

@jerbear@kind.social I wish people would stop suggesting I sell my costumes. I spent 50 hours on that piece for myself because I enjoyed it. Ain't nobody gonna pay me $2k for a cool pair of bracers or a corset or a decorative handmade bow. My ranger outfit probably took 400 hours of work plus a couple hundred dollars worth of materials. It's priceless so please stop considering it like it's a cheap Halloween costume.

@jerbear@kind.social As an administrative assistant supporting a CPO and five VPs whose calendars are frequently full all day every day, I myself am a very busy person. Even my peer who only supports one executive (the CEO) is busy all day. We're not sitting at our desk painting our nails or chit-chatting, as is often depicted in TV shows and movies. We're busy playing Calendar Jenga Tetris, accommodating competing priorities from a wide range of people around the globe, trying to keep our executives on track without letting anything slip through the cracks, while also trying to shoehorn in breaks for them to occasionally visit the restroom. I do not have time to chit-chat. I barely have time to pee.

@jerbear@kind.social customer service workers who work for giant chains are not incarnations of the corporate entity. They are human beings who work hard to earn minimum wage, or barely above. They’re not here to make your day worse, their only goal is that your interaction with them goes smoothly. They have very little effective control over the quality and availability of the products, and absolutely zero control over the price.

@jerbear@kind.social there's soooo much that goes on behind the scenes in a library. Also most librarians are pretty lefty (known) but that does go away the farther up the ladder you go (maybe not known).
