@sidereal at my last job the CEO would ignore every positive idea their employees had, but forced us to uncritically try every empty idea his delusional CEO friends hallucinated. His CEO friends would even share the tests they performed, & you could always tell where their engineers fudged the statistics to please their boss. But he did it anyways 'cause he was a classist prick. AI is a digital delusional CEO friend.

@sidereal Agreed, and very confusing. Why no evaluation of costs/benefits? Why are these questions treated as idiotic and/or hostile? Costs (post VC funding) arent even estimated. Profitable companies are laying people off despite retention being cheaper/faster than hiring, and we're openly relying more on senior devs while gutting the creation of future seniors. Maintenance is the big cost, but little is said re: LLMs vs upkeep. The laser focus on the short term is almost fanatical.
