i won't go on too long about this, lest i be accused of "not reading until the end," and i'll take my comments to their synchronous, scheduled, discussion time, if i can find the time to do so, i guess, but i disagree with the core analogy of the post, that students without a lot of experience newly joining the community of leet haxors in 1993 and every september onward are comparable in any way to people who have embraced ai tools while ignoring all the damage that comes of it

we must resist our arrogance of experience and assumptions that [people paying to generate codeslop] have nothing to teach us this is from way out in left field but this dig about "arrogance" reminds me strongly of a similar (bullshit, projecting) critique that religious folk used to paint us atheists with in the late-'00s movement (in the fifteen minutes before it turned super toxic and collapsed) so i kinda wonder if it comes from a similar place

@pho4cexa I considered joining the open call, but... ultimately decided they're beyond help. As much as it pains me, I think the better stance is to let them continue cutting off the branch they're standing on, and fall.
