  for the record, if you welcomed some llm-laundered code into your project, but later decided that slop isn't as tasty as you were led to believe, well, in most instances i don't think i'd continue to avoid your project because of that mistake, and i'm a pretty rabid ai-hater. add a "no slop ever again" policy and we're good even if the slop commits are too entangled now to try to rip it all out, meh i'm more concerned with the ongoing use and promotion of llm...

  in the masto ui if i put someone in my special list for best tooters that i never want to unintentionally miss a toot from, i no longer have that nice regex filter from the home column that i can apply to filter out topics i don't care about "tool for getting rid of crap you don't want to see" should be a feature on every ui element in every piece of software in existence

  oof. lost 20 minutes of work because of this today i learned: sort -u is not exactly sort | uniq. if you do sort -n -u, the uniq applies only to the sort key, which with -n will be only the numeric value. so with this data: 10 a 1 b 10 c 1 b these all behave as expected $ sort data 10 a 10 c 1 b 1 b $ sort -n data 1 b 1 b 10 a 10 c $ sort -u data 10 a 10 c 1 b but unique+numeric loses 10 c too $ sort -nu data 1 b 10 a

  "llms are getting better at finding bugs in code so if you're too anti-ai to use those tools, then malicious parties will instead, to find things to exploit" i don't really know what the answer to that is in general. but for me personally if the cost is enriching fascists and obliterating a swimming pool of water for every fix, i'm leaning toward "fuck it leave the bugs in"
