  Last night I described an idea for a JavaScript-less theme switcher for my static blog, using a cookie and a little help from Caddy. Today, I implemented both parts. If you visit Chronicae Novis Rebus, you'll find a new menu item: theme. You can select your theme, it'll be stuffed into a cookie, and the site will remember it.   Okay. I'm at the PC now. Lets get down to business. I'll move OJF to the iocaine org first, will tweak my postfix config a little, then open up the port forwarding on Eru, so I can receive mail from outside - so I have something I can test with under production circumstances.   LInus has always been a techbro, to use a modern term. He had no problem using proprietary tools for kernel development, declaring LLMs "just a tool" is in the very same spirit. I'm sorry, but if you're suddenly disappointed, you haven't paid attention. He's always been like this. Anything social-oriented around Linux was despite him, not because of him. Is it sad? Yes.   Just laying out here in plain: iocaine does not rely on proof of work, stays out of the way most of the time, has no AI code (nor assets, or anything), will never have any AI code, and its author is unapologetically very much anti-AI. It still takes care of the crawlers, and can even automatically firewall them off for even lower load.

  I used to respect Software Freedom Conservancy, they seemed to be aligned with my values. Lately... our values started to drift apart, and today, they burned any bridges that may have been left. There is one choice, and only once choice for a FLOSS project when it faces LLMs: reject them.   The first server I ever owned, as in, the first hardware that was mine, and ran my self-hosted things, is sitting here, under my desk. Sometimes I feel like resurrecting it, see if it still works, and if it does, making it part of my homelab, and host some of my stuff on it. The problem is, I don't think anything but the BSDs support it anymore, and I'm pretty sure a lot of modern languages don't target this particular architecture either (ppc32).
