@ascherbaum@mastodon.social Business or personal use? I'm using a MBP for my personal stuff and a X1C Gen10 with Win11 for business. Best of both worlds. :D

#DUT

@ascherbaum@mastodon.social If my X13s would need to be replaced today, I would definitely buy a Framework Laptop 13 Pro - After >20 years of only buying ThinkPads. At least if I could endure the long months until delivery (current orrders are expected to be shipped in September...)

  • @ascherbaum@mastodon.social For more than 20 years I am content with my ThinkPads. One thing I still do: Disable the touchpad and either use the red nipple mouse exclusively or connect my vertical mouse when my wrist aches.

@ascherbaum@mastodon.social I have used my ThinkPads for 5-7 years. Each of them got a battery replacement at some point. Almost every single one started out with "good" RAM configurations and ended up with twice or three times as much RAM. Almost every single one had a storage replacement somewhere along the way. On one I chaged the touchpad, on another one I changed the screen. If you remotely think about modifying them over the next years, the decision is relatively easy.

@ascherbaum@mastodon.social I'd love to use a Framework instead of all these but since they're not available to my country, I prefer Thinkpad.

@ascherbaum@mastodon.social Asus! Mostly joking though. I would avoid premium brands like ThinkPad for being overpriced (not by as much as Apple, but you can do better), but overall, laptop brands... everyone has their favorite and since everyone's is different (including those of the people that sell the stuff in stores for years and do repairs etc.) the only logical conclusion I can draw is that each new major version or product line is its own thing. I've had only superb experiences with Asus but 🤷

@ascherbaum@mastodon.social Thinkpad with MacBook build quality? And also the moment Windows runs on a machine it becomes garbage… Yes difficult decision.
