@dragon I feel like there are a couple different angles I could answer the question from, but there's really one true answer. Like, realistically the state that shapes most of our impressions of american culture is absolutely California, with New York a close second, but in terms of which state conforms the most to the stereotypes I have of the USA, it's Texas. Now, if we where talking about America and not just the USA, the most American state is Mexico, Mexico. It's either north american, south american or central american depending on who you ask, it's the whole package.

@dragon As far as I see it Texas pretends to be the most representative of the US as a whole while being very much unique in their culture. We have a similar situation here in Germany where Bavaria is seen as the stereotypical German culture in other countries, while Bavarian culture is as foreign to me as French culture. That's why I chose New York instead of Texas.

@dragon what I'm learning from this poll is that the shittier your state is the more American you are. Which makes my homeland of Alabama perhaps the third or second most American state.
