When you say discomfort, is it a sensory thing? Like your skin maybe needs the softness?
When you had it all plush and it felt amazing but the next day was bad, in what way was it bad?
Do your joints hurt? Your hips? Lower or upper back?
Maybe you have multiple things going on and your solution needs to address all of them.

@vervain not sensory, not painful. Just not comfortable. I feel like I'm doing work just to support my body's position in bed. The softness seemed to feel okay, but I recall waking up a lot during the night and the next day I was buggered. Moreso then usual. I think. I don't know how else to explain it; my beds just aren't comfortable and relaxing to be in. It's not a sensory thing and it's not pain.
