@vervain not sensory, not painful. Just not comfortable. I feel like I'm doing work just to support my body's position in bed.
The softness seemed to feel okay, but I recall waking up a lot during the night and the next day I was buggered. Moreso then usual. I think.
I don't know how else to explain it; my beds just aren't comfortable and relaxing to be in. It's not a sensory thing and it's not pain.

@Hyperlynx I have another guess, and thank you for providing more explanations. What about So Many Pillows to support you in places that feel like they need extra support. Sometimes, a wedge situation where the head pillow can support upper shoulders can be really helpful. I sleep with a pillow under my upper legs when I'm on my back. When I sleep on my sides I use a pillow for my upper knee too.
