@marceles_pixel@mastodon.art no te sabre decir. lo bueno de las distro es que vas probando, que sea debian/ubuntu, fedora o arch todos tienen su propio repositorio de software para instalar. Calculo que tienes que validar si los programas que utlizas estén disponible y faciles de instalar.

@marceles_pixel@mastodon.art You got a few suggestoins already, personally I'd recommend Linux Mint but the most important thing is just pick a major distro, those are well mantained. Most distros have "live cd" (or live usb) possible with the same installation image, which means you can boot into Linux from the pendrive without having to install, this is good for testing whether all your hardware works, though do you have replacement for the software you use already?

@marceles_pixel@mastodon.art it doesn't matter that much, stick to something relatively common like Debian, Fedora, or Mint? The one thing I'd suggest for an artist is to use the flathub versions of the art programs as that'll usually be newer than what's in a distro. https://flathub.org/

@marceles_pixel@mastodon.art Personally I'm a Debian w/Gnome user. I use older hardware (3yrs) and do not have any issues. I've recommended LinuxMint and PopOS to others, I would never ever recommend Ubuntu to anyone. PopOS is especially good if you have an Nvida Graphics Card since they have a build with the drivers baked in.

@marceles_pixel@mastodon.art I've gone through a number of distros since the late 90s, but I've wound up using Fedora KDE Plasma for the past few years. I mainly chose it because the direction of openSUSE seemed unclear and Fedora is funded by IBM through Red Hat, so it should have a good chance of being around for a while. Also, I use a Lenovo ThinkPad laptop. Fortunately, Lenovo and Fedora have a partnership, so the driver support is extremely good for the laptop's hardware. All the creative apps work well

@marceles_pixel@mastodon.art Do not focus on distro. Focus on desktop (probably Gnome or KDE). Especially if you have a graphics tablet or something like that, figure out where that's well supported. If you tend to buy new hardware, pick a distro that's rolling-release, those tend to have the newer drivers.

@marceles_pixel@mastodon.art llevo 3 años usando Nobara, es basicamente Fedora pero con configuraciones y extras para solventar cosas que fedora no tiene de base, como repositorios o algun software propietario... nada que no puedas hacer por tu cuenta pero te ahorra tener que hacerlo tu cuando lo necesites. Su pagina web la describe como: Un escritorio basado en Fedora, optimizado para juegos, streaming y creación de contenido, para que puedas saltarte los ajustes y empezar a trabajar. Personalmente prefiero la version con Gnome, pero la version prinipal es KDE asi que supongo que podria funcionar mejor. En general es bastante estable y rara vez he tenido problemas asi que la recomiendo. :blobcatartist:
