I’m imagining a rented, non-deterministic dishwasher that only gets some things clean some of the time, and occasionally makes things dirtier. - You can rent three of them and once the first one is done you can move the dishes to the second one, and so on. - You can then also buy two more sets of crockery/cutlery and use whichever comes out cleanest. But as long as you keep renting them, washing up is dead!!

@ross you want a clean bowl for soup. You choose a dishwasher that you hope has a clean bowl in it. Your host opens one of the other dishwashers, to reveal a goat. Should you change your choice to the other unopened dishwasher?

@ross I'm imagining a dishwasher with no buttons. You can only use it with an app. And it only takes a certain kind of detergent, which comes in a pod identified with a chip, which is delivered to you on a monthly subscription plan. After three years the company goes bust. The app still works but you can no longer get the dishwasher pods. So you have to buy a new dishwasher, which has no buttons, and can only be used with an app ad subscription detergent... This is how things are now...

@ross also the dishwasher is an oracle who wants to offer you advice that you once consulted your nan or neighbor about, maybe a clergy. No matter, now you ask the dishwasher. It just needs to record all these discussions to share across the dish(washer) network. Oh yeah, they all talk to each other. You're paying for that too, except they need to be on city water and power for that.
