2. Turn heating off before heading to FOSDEM
3. Be on your way back, see a snowstorm
4. Realize heating's off and it's -15*C outside (compared to ~6*C in Brussels)
5. Neuron activation, desktop is online
6. SSH into your desktop at home
7. Set fans to 50% (piping to hwmon)
8. Start a full system update with emerge
I knew running Gentoo is a good idea :akko_giggle:

@elly 9. Install Home Assistant? Though I have a similar story, from a few years ago. Leaving irrelevant context aside, there was a building with a broken heating system, in winter. A room of this building had a number of computers in it, and they were all mining bitcoins. Guess which room in the building was a bit warmer than all the others?

@elly What's your PSU max output? For a good stock PC it's around 650W, which is not great but not terrible either. It certainly helped 😅

@elly i used to compile LLVM few times in winter for this reason
