Gnome has been trying to murder X11 for over a decade now. 99% of us no longer use Gnome because it's garbage.

x11 isnt even that out of date, i feel that every attempt to drop x11 is way too premature because so many people still use it, especially bsd users! this is unlike the linux kernel's decision to drop extremely old arches recently which, while a weird decision, somewhat makes sense. for x11 it personally doesnt make sense to me.
