Gnome has been trying to murder X11 for over a decade now. 99% of us no longer use Gnome because it's garbage.

@thedaemon @tfb@mastodon.bsd.cafe for the record: it's garbage even completely ignoring the fact they dropped X11 which was the last way to get a semi-usable desktop on gnome

@thedaemon I've disagreed with the direction of the Gnome DE since Gnome 3, but as a desktop it's just one of many. If they want to go Wayland-only, I think is a poor decision, but I'll use something more to my liking. Where I have a problem is when they abuse the historic trust put in them to be custodians of a whole stack of important software beyond their DE. Gtk is not only for use by their desktop, and this makes me worry about the future of other parts of the stack, like Orca.
