I wish I could get the kind of freelance design work that my employer laid me off in favor of in the first place

@ClarusPlusPlus would it be an option to see if your old employer has any work you could do as a freelancer? Idk if it would be awkward, but I did the same thing when I left my steady job and turned self-employed. They're still a client of mine now, 15 years later!
