Last year, my colleagues and I asked you to participate in a survey about your stances regarding AI (and non-AI) automation in type design.
And wow, did you have things to say โ thank you all for filling it in, and for sharing your thoughts and comments. Special thanks to our insightful and patient interviewees, and to our peer reviewers for their sharp and generous remarks.
We are happy to report that after the long slow grind of the academic publishing machinery, an article has been published in Visible Language:
https://www.visible-language.org/journal/issue-60-1-automation-type-design/
Again, many thanks from the team: @alicesavoie, Wayne, Sebastian, Raphaela, and me.

@kai Congrats on getting this published! I'm curious, which of the non-deterministic methods that designers are currently using surprised you to learn about? I remember you hinting at something before but nothing in particular like this jumped out at me when I just read the article. Or is it something proprietary that can't be shared? Tal's and Lars' kern suggester seems interesting, but is it non-deterministic?
