The NYC mayor’s office is using my typeface Dunbar for the NYC World Cup Campaign. See more on @FontsInUse@typo.social: https://fontsinuse.com/uses/78610/nyc-world-cup-campaign And incredibly the Mayor is posting about it using Wu Tang - Bring Da Ruckus 👐 Now that is my kind of mayor. They just launched a site where anyone can make their own “Player Card” in the style of the campaign: https://on.nyc.gov/playercard

of course the shovel sellers will tell you it’s inevitable, even as the promised flood of gold nuggets is nowhere to be seen

Awesome to see anti-war protesters marching through the neighborhood here in Tokyo just now. I love my neighborhood. And I love the creative sculpture they are pulling on a cart to make their point. Signs read “戦争反対” (anti-war)

When I first purchased a license for @HEX Franklin it was already a deal for the original 20 styles. It’s the best digital version of Franklin Gothic I’ve ever used, so even a single style would be worth it. But because of the @futurefonts free updates, and knowing how much @nicksherman loves Franklin Gothic, I knew my early investment would pay off big. Sure enough he just added *46 new styles*😳 Even now at $300 it’s still a bargain: https://www.futurefonts.xyz/hex/hex-franklin

It’s been a great trip to Berlin! Thank you to everyone @fontstand for an amazing conference. Wonderful speakers and I always enjoy the conversations in between talks with old and new friends I also enjoyed visiting with folks from @TypeMedia and seeing some exciting in-process student projects And on my last full day in Berlin I was able to see my typeface Dunbar in use at Bäcker Wiedemann, a Berlin-based bakery since 1895. Now to add it to @FontsInUse

Here's a flyer I made for a show tonight in Tokyo, using a few style from my typeface Counterpress 🍏 I really like the latest album by Jack Name, especially the closing track: https://jackname.bandcamp.com/track/the-devil-comes-inside

I really enjoyed taking this survey: https://www.surveyking.com/survey/ecal-typeresearch The framing of “deterministic automation” (eg algorithms) vs “non-deterministic automation” (eg. Machine Learning or “AI”) was super helpful. Maybe I’m not looking in the right places but I haven’t seen much nuanced framing like this elsewhere. And it was interesting for me to think through my actual feelings about different forms of automation for specific tasks🤖 https://typo.social/@kai/114236381385076028

Some images from my talk last week on my typeface Velzyland and the tools that shaped it. Thanks again to TypeLab @Typographics for having me and thanks to everyone who watched in-person and online. I especially appreciated the questions folks asked at the end and the conversations we had afterwards. It’s wonderful that events like this can be streamed globally but also there’s nothing that beats the face to face interactions when possible ❤️
