Having an absolutely disastrous day here, total parenting failure. I feel so hopelessly alone and helpless in these situations, wondering if there is such thing as some kind of support group for ASD parents of ASD children. Go ahead and boost if you think it’d be of any help

@stooge@438punk.house As a parent of two adult children dx'd as ASDHD as adults, you arent a failure as a parent. Its hard being a parent always. It just is. You do your best and keep working on building your support system - you will find your people. Adding some #s #Autistic #ASD #ActuallyAutistic #Parenting

@stooge@438punk.house Something I learned too late to help parent my kids is that are expressions of autism that I don't experience, but they do. But they can see how much I cared, and tried to make space for their differences. Hang in there, parenting is a lot.

@stooge@438punk.house IDK but as a borderline-neurotypical parent of an autistic now-adult: shit is hard hang in there I'm sure you are doing your best it's ok to do something that comforts you and come back to the situation in a bit when you're feeling better ❤️❤️❤️

@stooge@438punk.house I am sorry. I've been there. Things were awful in our house for years. It does get better, but it's so hard. 🫂

@stooge@438punk.house I know there are a lot of groups on Facebook (ick I know) but I'm not sure if there's one specifically good for this

@stooge@438punk.house I don't know that I can say anything to help. It is hard. It will stay hard. Focus on the three goals of parenting: when they grow to adulthood, they should a) be alive, b) not be in prison, c) know you love them. Everything beyond that is a bonus. In the hardest times, focus on (c). It measures success.

@stooge@438punk.house Lots of us here *were* autistic kids and have autistic kids. You can try the hashtags #ActuallyAutistic and #ParentingNeurodiversity for more focussed reach. My kids are now a young adult and a late teen. We had MANY disastrous days along the way. Feel free to vent and/or ask for advice - just tell me which one it is first 😉
