Its a giant travesty, and its not just lights. My air fryers timer display has lost about 50% of the digit segments. My Panasonic microwaves die every 7 years or so, even though some 1970s dial timer microwaves are still working at my friends vacation cabin. Ive had 3 refrigerators since I moved into my house in 2008...

@dlakelan @zl2tod Currently using a 20-year old fridge, washer, and dryer, and hoping they keep working. Because anything that replaces any of them won’t last half as long. And yeah, as an electrical engineer, I absolutely hate the planned-obsolescence LED bulbs. Very convenient for the manufacturers to have those cheap capacitors available that die way faster than the LED itself.
