Call me paranoid, but I come from a generation of engineers who *fought* for uptime back when best practices were still being figured out, before everywhere became a code factory. Seeing the number of folks who are just willingly giving an overpriced bag of D&amp;D dice the ability to run commands on their production infrastructure without human intervention is like watching the world silently go mad.

@valthonis That's what software development could devolve to: People just re-triggering the random code generator, just throwing that list of requirements in there, with everybody happy with a 60+% uptime. "Yeah, it doesn't work. It's computers after all."

@valthonis good engineers are paranoid and should be. It's why anything works at all.

@valthonis It’s not just you. I think there’s a small but vocal cadre of GenX engineers like us who are doing what they can to push back on this as much as we can. It’s scary though how many people in our industry and age bracket have decided they’re perfectly okay with having a bunch of graphics cards that are almost on fire making decisions about running “terraform apply -destroy” on PROD whenever it feels like.
