@mattiem I’m hesitant to prognosticate when I can immediately provide three nuanced and conflicting answers, all of which I believe (Fitzgerald quote implied).
But the premise of your question does presuppose agreement upon definitions which we may not yet agree on. What is “software”) in this context? If the value shifts, is change in a particular direction more virtuous? Was the value correctly set to begin with?

@mattiem what I will say is, when I look at my life, the things I’m proud of are what I’ve created, not what I did to create them. I love my tools, and I hate my tools, but my pride is in my artifacts. I sign my name in my artifacts. Do I *deserve* to be paid more than a plumber or an electrician? These skills all require system understanding, design, and execution talent. What makes one worth more than another? Does scarcity of skill have virtuous implications?
