Many moons ago I did some work in language parsing (I even got a cherished KλC pin for my efforts.) Since then I've done a little neural net stuff and had some great fun with genetic search. People have no clue how much the overall class of algorithm does useful things.

@alan I worked with it in the context of weather prediction, and we also use it in the renewable energy sector, but I haven't been that directly involved in that side of it. I also did a Uni course on the core math/structure of ML. I've followed the NLP field for a long time because I like languages, but it's almost lost in the noise now.
