@alan As the author notes, the predictive side of the technology has been making good progress for 20 years in the background. I hope it will continue doing so regardless of the gen AI hype cycle.
I haven't worked *a lot* with ML professionally, but this is where it's been when I have. I also use these kind of tools for personal stuff. I've always hated chatbots since they first appeared. I still hate interacting with them.

@veronica Many moons ago I did some work in language parsing (I even got a cherished KλC pin for my efforts.) Since then I've done a little neural net stuff and had some great fun with genetic search. People have no clue how much the overall class of algorithm does useful things.
