@veronica I expect a massive pullback, with VCs and other investors treating the field like a plague (again, LOL).
A few smart people will have accumulated research funds during the process and we can all get back to doing reasonable, useful things with the whole class of algorithms.

@alan As the author notes, the predictive side of the technology has been making good progress for 20 years in the background. I hope it will continue doing so regardless of the gen AI hype cycle. I haven't worked *a lot* with ML professionally, but this is where it's been when I have. I also use these kind of tools for personal stuff. I've always hated chatbots since they first appeared. I still hate interacting with them.
