@als@alico.nexus I did some back of the napkin calculations. in 2025, American consumers emitted 1.21 billion metric tons of CO₂ regarding gasoline-powered cars (no diesel). Also no trucks, no airplanes, and no farm tractors. Private jets are definitely not good, but we should also work to eliminate or heavily limit personal car usage. End suburban sprawl. Invest more in public transport. Electrify cars and the grid. More solar power, and more batteries.

@als While I do completely and without reservation agree with the ultimate statement, from what I gather the 4.8MT is per person so that is likely lowballing it (which would still make flying commercial roughly 5 times better than flying privately even if he had 10 passengers every time).

@als I find the flight from Pitt meadows to Vancouver fairly wasteful..that's a 40 min drive and he still would have to commute 30 min to downtown from the airport lol
