I found out last year that the Library for the Blind gives out free braille displays to members, and since I've been a member for most of my life even though I haven't used their services in years, I reached out to ask for one and they sent it to me within a couple of days. I wouldn't be able to do poetry readings without one and braille displays in general are prohibitively expensive, so I can't imagine a life where I could ever buy my own. Now I have this cute compact little guy with 20 cells and a carrying case and strap, and I can read again without the aid of a screen reader. I've missed braille a lot during the years when I didn't have access to it. I'm terrible at writing it now, but still very good at reading it, which is a relief, and anyway libraries are so cool and good and technology is (mostly) so cool and good and I'm very grateful for both.
