#Americans have health insurance provided by their employer who can *legally* fire them on the spot for not showing up at work cause they had a car accident on the way to work thus needing that health insurance the most.

@TheAuthorVivian@mastodon.world Even without sudden accident based employer betrayal, America sends over 200,000 families into life wrecking bankruptcy from medical costs, every year. Every year Before Obama it was nearly 2 million a year. Trump legislation will be increasing the number again.

@TheAuthorVivian@mastodon.world But the good news is that there’s something called COBRA that allows you to continue your existing insurance for several months at 10x the price you’d been paying for your employer-based insurance.
