@melroy we've been having various ideas of how users could teach the extension to handle new/unknown pop-ups through instruction. Is it something like that you have in mind?

@melroy The problem is that regulations like these always has to be met with compromises from the conservatives since there are no coalitions. And even then, the comission decides most things instead of representatives that could be more knowledgable.

@melroy @clemens Tracking is so much more than cookies though. The banners are only there if the website does something you might not want it to do; blame the companies behind them instead. Sites can be completely bannerless if they want to.

@melroy @clemens Problem of popup comes from website using cookie to track you. Not from EU law enforcing data privacy. If a website does not track you with a cookie, there is no need of a popup.

@melroy the law does not require those popups, they are dark patterns to coerce people into agreeing to non essential cookies. Website operators would be free to a) honor Do Not Track settings of browsers to auto disable non essential cookies or b) only use cookies for which use is justified without approval or c) not use cookies at all. @clemens
