@vervain that's funny, my mother also said black walnuts were her favorite. I make non-dairy ice cream for my delicate tum, and wanted black walnut, too. The only ones I could find were a tiny, expensive bag of chopped ones that were nearly rancid.

@temporal_spider Oh yeah, I imagine they're hard to find at a manageable price. The harvest is basically wildcrafting as far as I can tell. I imagine a lot of them are laying on the hills and hollers there. But you have to be local to get them. I love that your mom liked them. (I also have to resort to nondairy ice cream.)
