I have not tried one. I also didn't know they existed.
Have you tried black walnuts? They grow wild in the ozarks. They have a taste that is all their own. People there make black walnut ice cream.

@vervain that's funny, my mother also said black walnuts were her favorite. I make non-dairy ice cream for my delicate tum, and wanted black walnut, too. The only ones I could find were a tiny, expensive bag of chopped ones that were nearly rancid.
