@jon i’ve showered with parrots on my shoulder before. Only an Amazon and a Conure. My Macaw was too unpredictable. He got to shower by himself. As unpredictable as he was, and since he was 3 feet from top of his head to the end of his tail, I didn’t want that beak anywhere near any dangling bits

@jon But the question becomes - as the human or the bird? Because both seem pretty awesome!

@jon In this scenario, are you the hands, the bird, the water, or some secret fourth thing?

@jon Once and (sadly) once only, the flock of chestnut-backed chickadees that periodically visits our courtyard noticed that I was misting a tree and they all descended on the branches and danced in the mist.

@jon I have experienced this and it's quite a thrill to know a tiny creature trusts enough to allow a human to hold it in the palm of our hand. it was after my children decided we needed to rescue a baby bird after it's nest was destroyed. I didn't think it would survive because it didn't have feathers yet, but I called a wildlife centre and they gave awesome advice. My children took turns caring for the bird, waking to feed it every few hours during the night. After it learned to fly we released it and it returned every day to our 2nd floor porch . (We could identify it by the crooked leg that had been broken by the fall from the tree)
